- Murcurio and Aristocles decide to wait outside of town until the grogs report.
- Murcurio and Aristocles meet Silas of Bonisagas who is interested in joining the covenant.
- The grogs come back with a report that Aristocles stole a goat and the peasants were hunting him.
- The magi suspect magical influence and start hunting for tracks. They soon find tracks that match Aristocles's boots and walking pace.
- Silas was exhausted from his journey and Aristocles carried him with his floating disk spell.
- The tracks lead to a rather crudely dismembered and marked up goat body, sans head.
- The magi bury the goat (with a spell) and follow the new tracks that now match Murcurio's footprints.
- The tracks terminate at a shear cliff. After some searching the magi find an invisible ladder and climb it just as the angry mob arrives.
- Further tracks lead into the forest. Fearing an ambush the magi send Helga the hunter grog first.
- Helga reports seeing an old gypsy woman and her shapechanging accomplice at a campsite.
- An ambush plan is hatched and after a few preparatory spells are cast, the magi notice that a demonic aura is about the place.
- The ambush goes down without a hitch, the shapechanging demon is killed by poisoned arrow to the head, the gypsy hag by a water blast by Murcurio and her apprentice by Aristocles Earth's Carbuncle spell.
- A search of the premisis found a golden fawn with half a rook of Creo vis in it. The demon's heart had 2 pawns of Muto vis and the hag's body contained a pawn of Corpus vis.
- On the way back with the loot the magi find that the mob is still waiting and decide to wait them out at the hag's campsite.
- After nightfall, Silas creates a zombie out of one of the apprentices and buries it in the snow to retrieve later.
- The magi once again try to climb down to go home and find the owner of the goat still waiting at the frozen cliff.
- The magi have the grogs feed and thaw the man and convince him to go back to the village. After he is gone the magi return to the covenant.
- Xtopherous identifies the vis's forms and warns that the Muto and Corpus vis are demonically tainted. He demands they be traded or destroyed. Murcurio and Aristocles disagree and state that the covenant charter section on vis agrees with them. Xtopherous calls a covenant meeting.
- The meeting is held in the tent as the hall is not yet completed. The first order of business is to induct Silas. Since he has brought his own vis the issue is voted on and unanimously approved and Silas becomes the fifth member of the Tremain covenant.
- The issue of dealing with the tainted vis is brought up and a vote of 4 to 1 upholds the charter as written and the vis is thus added to the covenant stocks. Xtopherous states that he wants nothing to do with it and predicts doom to those who use it.
- With the 5 Creo vis necessary for the Touch of Midas ritual the meeting then addresses the budget of the covenant.
